Hyderabad: Kankatala, a store for handloom sarees held a masterclass ‘Art of Draping’ in collaboration with renowned stylist Winny Narayan at their Jubilee Road outlet in Hyderabad. Over 100 women participants learnt how to drape sarees for this wedding season.
Anirudh Kankatala, Director, Kankatala said, “The event is the brand’s ongoing initiative to empower Indian women and promote the saree as a versatile garment. At Kankatala, we have always strived to be trendsetters in the market, while also supporting the Indian handloom industry and the livelihood of weavers across 40 weaving clusters of India. It is thrilling to see the appreciation from modern Indian women for our efforts in normalizing saree and making it a part of their everyday attire.”
Winny Narayan taught two methods to drape a saree, the first look was casual and versatile that can be draped at anywhere, anytime and with all kinds of saris, whereas another was a more formal style that was ideal for not only wedding appearances but for all evening and social gatherings. She also suggested various hacks and tricks for accessorizing a saree with belts, jackets, bags, jewellery, and tops.
Kankatala further said that the campaign aims to break stereotypes and encourage modern Indian women to embrace saree as an elegant choice for various occasions, be it a wedding, a day at work, or a casual brunch with friends.
